THE CLIENT

Pause Fest is Australia’s premier digital event, aimed at supporting and showcasing the best in creative and tech from Australia and all over the world.

In 2014, Pause lit up Federation Square, with over 6,000 people flocking to the innovation capital of Australia. From humble beginnings in 2011, Pause Fest has rapidly grown to become one of the most anticipated events on the bustling Australian festival calendar. Pause Fest attracts a powerful mix of industry professionals, startups and early adopters from a broad range of digital disciplines. The event represents a unique opportunity for locals to connect, collaborate and launch projects alongside global leaders and visionary brands.

THE CHALLENGE

Pause Fest is only 4 years old so it is not well known. The main challenge of this project is “To let people know about Pause Fest”. Of the various methods of advertising, I chose motion promo and poster.

Motion promo - Every year, Pause Fest showcases amazing motion graphics and attracts people who are interested in the medium. My challenge was to create a powerful motion promo and upload it on famous or popular motion websites, such as Vimeo.

Poster - I designed a poster for general marketing purposes.

Mobile Guide App - Pause Fest has a complicated schedule because there are a lot of events in various categories. The visitors need a detailed program guide that is visible in the dark and easily accessible.

Strategy & Approach

1. Eye Catching Design
various high saturation colors
+ curiosity figure
= eye catching

2. Illustrate the Different Types of Categories
each ball & color represents a category

LOOK, PLAY, INSPIRE

I wanted to express that this festival has many interesting design approaches to look at. It’s a lot of fun and they have unique content you can’t Google.

Simple UI flow

This allows users to quickly and simply check the events guide and schedule.

A color represents each type of event. Users can scan the events that interest them easily.

Users don’t need to go back to the previous page to browse another days’ schedule. They can swipe the screen up & down to move to another day’s schedule.
